Clinical Social Work Intern

At 15 years old, I knew I wanted to be a social worker because that is when I fully became aware of the many challenges faced by my family while trying to navigate a new culture. I have since completed a bachelor's degree in social work at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. I am now pursuing a master's degree in Social Work, specializing in Clinical Practice at Walden University. My goal is to become a clinical social worker in the next year and serve clients in the DMV area. I have experience working with individuals of various ages and ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds with diverse needs.

I chose the social work field because I am sensitive to people's mental and emotional needs. Through the use of empathy, I desire to validate my clients' experiences while providing practical ways for them to heal, grow, and create new and impactful experiences. As an individual who, in early adolescence, emigrated from Haiti into the US and adapted to a new culture, I bring with me the expertise to identify needs specific to immigrants and their children as they navigate through settling in their bicultural identity. I am interested in serving children, adolescents, and adults. I also have special interests in depression, anxiety, and relationships. My therapy approach is centered on the strengths-based perspective, which allows me to see my clients as experts in their own lives while employing a respectful and non-blaming approach.

I look forward to being a part of your journey.
