Welcome to Takoma Therapy! I am a pre-licensed therapist who believes therapy is a safe space where you feel seen, express and process emotions, and develop the tools to live a liberated life. Life can present a host of challenges that may make it difficult for us to thrive but this does not have to be your truth. Many of these challenges may have even existed before you were born, which has been described as generational trauma. In therapy, you can develop an awareness between the cultural and social context of your life and the psyche.
My aim as a practitioner is to meet you where you are on your path to self discovery and healing. Rooted in liberation psychology with a Humanistic approach, I believe everyone has the power within to live a healthy and well balanced life. Areas of focus include, life transitions, grief and loss, depression, anxiety, family and relationships issues, and career issues.
I have a Bachelor’s in Human Services and Psychology, a Master’s in the Sociology of Education, and I am currently pursuing a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health towards a clinical licensure. My background is rich in experiences in child development, education and birth work advocacy, racial and social equity, and critical race theory. After years of community service, I am honored to help those who are in need of a compassionate place to become grounded and empowered in their personal development.
