Jamila Kani, LMSW, LGSW (she/her)

I am a native Washingtonian and a graduate of Howard University where I obtained a Master of Social Work (MSW).

I am a Licensed Graduate Social Worker in the District of Columbia and Maryland.

As a social worker with over a decade of experience, I have served diverse populations throughout the DC Metro area.

I am experienced in providing mental health counseling to individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, grief, substance abuse, life adjustment challenges, and various forms of trauma involving abuse and neglect, domestic violence, and sexual violence.

As a therapist, I approach counseling through a trauma-informed, eclectic lens using several different modalities such as Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Reality Therapy to name a few.

I am solutions focused and empowerment based—

I honor you as the expert of your life experience and believe that you have strengths, purpose, and value no matter what your experience has been.

My goal is to help you own your power, utilize your strengths, and learn tools to consciously navigate and elevate your emotions, behaviors, and thoughts.

As your therapist, I will provide a safe, welcoming space for you to explore and express yourself freely.

It would be an honor and privilege to support you on your healing and self-actualization journey.
