My name is Angie Qiu. My goal as a counselor is to provide a safe enough environment where we can explore your primary interests, develop goals and determine strengths and assets as you move toward your aspirations. The therapeutic relationship is a collaborative partnership, requiring your active engagement, taking responsibility, and being engaged within the counseling alliance.
My primary approaches are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy, and Person Centered Therapy. My theoretic approach rests on the belief that you are in charge of your counseling experience. My goals are that you will learn the aspects of your life you can change, and learn how to cope with those parts of your like you cannot change.
I am a doctoral candidate in the counseling program at George Washington University. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology in China and my Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Johns Hopkins University. I am a certificated LGPC in both D.C. and Maryland and I have been working as a counselor for five years.
